My date with Justin

September 22nd, 2008 · 1 Comment

You got it,  not a date with my hunk of a husband Steve, but a cozy beautiful alone time in the forest with a blanket on the floor, a couple of snacks and Justin.

Ok… enough teasing.  Justin is the beauty in my belly.

Last weekend I was at “Le domaine de la Voliaire” which is a nice retreat place out in Saint Jean de Matha.

I went with a group of fun woman.  On friday night we talked the way women do when there’s porto, chips, sweets, a fireplace and no man around.  The later it got, the louder the laughs.

The next day I was talked out, so I ditched them all except for one.   She and  I made a pact.  “I love you, but don’t talk to me”.  No talking during the walking.   We ended up in the forest on some sloppy terrain with a nice view.  My friend found a mini hut, made out of branches and twigs.  I left her there to enjoy her scrapbook, her crayons, flowers, bird wings and the dead insects that she picked up along the way.

I couple of steps higher, I settled on a little clearing in the middle of the pine trees.  I lay down my blanket and  I took in the sun.  The smell was a mixture of pine and wet ground in the summer.  It was busy  with birds  and squirrels everywhere.  I didn’t mind, I fell asleep.

When I woke up,  I put both my hands on my belly and I set about to survey the internal activities.  Sure enough Justin was awake.  He was just as chipper as I was.   It was beautiful, I was all smiles and he was having a party.   I can’t wait to meet him in person, It’s amazing how well we already get along.

No really

August 20th, 2008 · No Comments

All I want to talk about these days is how much pregnancy is not what it’s hipped up to be. I’ll restrain myself, wont be dwelling on the issue. Suffice it to say that according to my observation, pregnancy feels like an accumulation of all possible ailment and bodily discomforts. Really I mean it.

I have this big pregnancy bible that I keep reading over and over again. There’s a section about possible symptoms one might experience. Well, the list is nearly endless and not just the numerous variations of morning sickness. You’ve got everything on that list; teeth decay, leg cramps, blurry vision, gastric reflux, headaches, nose bleeding, shortness of breath, memory lapses, anaemia and so on…

Did I mention stinky farts… Ok that one is not exactly on the list. But I tell you, I’ve suffocated myself and endangered the live of my loving husband enough times to know.

Oh, and on top of that… theirs an other human taking up space inside of you.

Enough said.

My latest project

July 21st, 2008 · No Comments

If you’ve been wonderring what’s up with my blog and how come I’ve been out for so long.

Well to put it bluntly, for the past little while I’ve been sleeping and puking. And I’m not complaining.

If you haven’t guessed… Well yes Steve and I are expecting. We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the next generations.

Due date? early February 2009.

Boy, girl? Don’t know, well take them both.

We’re happy.

Some woman don’t start to show until their in the 6st month. Well I’m not one of them. I’ve started to show from day one. I’ve tripled bra size and by the end of the first month none of my hot summer pants could fit. Oh well… shopping duty for me again! (Twist my rubber arm).

So that’s the news, cheers.

Oil vs Acrylic

June 6th, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’ve decided to make the big change. From now on, decided as of today. Starting this very moment, I will no longer use oil painting. Sounds like not much, but for me it’s a very big deal. Apparently you can get results just as good with acrylic …. well not for me, I’ve never been very good with the acrylic.

I’m making the big change because oil is killing me. No really literally it’s killing me. Albeit slowly, the chemicals and the stench of the oil is giving me a perpetual runny nose and sour throat.

I guess I’ll just have to lean to use acrylic.

Either that, or die young.

I opt for living.

The blessing is the curse

June 4th, 2008 · No Comments

Some people live in fear because of what they lack. People in refugee camps all over Africa and in other desolate corners of the earth are waking up with minds occupied with one general thought. What can I get for breakfast this morning. When will I get lunch, will I have supper. What will my children eat today.

This morning it occurred to me again that my greatest fear is not what I lack, but what I have. I have so much, the moment is so perfect. The joy is so complete that the very thought of loosing it, even just a bit of it is agony.

But what is “it”. It is all of it. The material, the spiritual, the friends the things, the comfort, the money, the talent, the health, the hopes. That and all the things that are mine, mine , mine.

Seriously…sadly but seriously, my heart aches when I think of “it”. And I have those moments when I cannot hide from it.

“It” dictates my joys and my woes, but how could I want it any other way.

My blessing is my curse…but I wont give it up.

I’ve decided to be a finisher

May 30th, 2008 · No Comments

You know how it is…..when you start working on your website, it’s never over. I think I’m working on my third incarnation of the official Frédeline Jean Artwork website. Of course you’ve never seen the other incarnations because I keep getting a better idea and scrapping the old one. Well it’s over. I’ve decided a couple of weeks ago that I was going to be a finisher.

The website is first on my list of things to finish. Look for it on the sidebar it will be there soon.

New slick look

May 30th, 2008 · 1 Comment

As you can see, I’ve change the look of the blog. In fact I’ve changed the entire blog. I lost the other one… Yes silly silly me. I started with minor changes, a new plugin here and there, and then I messed up. I played with the permissions and voilà… The whole thing disappeared.

After the initial shock and hair pulling I decided that it was time for a change anyways.

Welcome to the new blog, it’s different from the old not only the style, the new fresh theme and  the photo slide show (I’m sure you’ve noticed). The difference is actually on a more profound level. This blog is my new art portal. A window to the inside of my studio.

Objective #1 Share what I’ve been working on.

Ojbective #2 continue to keep in touch without having to pickup the dreaded phone. (I hate the phone)

That’s it. The plan is simple. I’d like to upload my work in progress on a regular basis, get some feed back, share the joy.
